The Integrative Law Movement
The dust is still settling from our event in Colorado a couple of weeks ago. Leaders and activists in the entire movement came together from Sunday afternoon to Tuesday at lunch to meet each other, share ideas, and create next steps.
I am pleased to announce that one of the accomplishments of the event was that a name for our movement emerged: The Integrative Law Movement. It is a name that has been bandied around before but didn't always have wide acceptance. At our event, it seemed to emerge from the group as the proper name to describe the common ground upon which we all stood. Parallel to the Integrative Medicine movement and reflecting integration in many other professions, it is a name that captures what we are about without alienating a lot of folks who are our kindred spirits (but don't necessarily know it!) It comes from the same base as integrity, a key purpose of the legal profession.
A committee is working on making public announcements and a description of the movement to post.
Several events emerged from our gathering that we will be announcing over the next few weeks. The website is getting a complete face-lift and there will be many more changes as we move toward a Community-Supported Integrative Law Movement.
