Space to Relax
The past month has been a tough one. I spent the last week of April in Destin, Florida at a conference. I had the chance to talk about collaborative law practice and that was good, but the weather was terrible and while I was in Florida, my husband was trying to deal with extensive flooding around our home and at his office. Just today, we finally got the last bits cleaned up around the house (the 22nd of May)and my next task is applying for FEMA.
For the first time in a month, I made it to my pilate/yoga fusion class and I am so very grateful. That hour of stretching and focus revitalizes me in so many ways, though I suspect I may be a little sore tomorrow!
As I think back over this last month, I realize that my group of Memphis lawyers, Lawyers as Peacemakers, Lawyers as Problemsolvers, last met for a day long session in March and as we worked (well, it was kind of work) on defining our common goals, (a unified court system that was responsive to the needs of the community, lawyers who practice holistically, etc.) we identified ten common core values we all share. Justice, integrity, community, fun...Fun? Yep, we decided that fun was a core value and then we sat around and made collages that represented our vision in 5 years for when we win the Noble Peace Prize for our efforts in Memphis. Work? Kinda; Fun? You bet!
