Would you like to join me in South Africa?
My circumnavigation is going very well. I've spent time with beautiful people and I've seen some amazing places. If you are interested in the itinerary, it is on the home page of www.jkimwright.com. The map is clearly NOT the territory.
Kim's 2014 Schedule:
The map in the graphic is my itinerary for the next few weeks!
Sometimes when a post has photos, the email newsletter formatting is challenging. Visit the on-line link to see it with proper formatting. On the home page, click the title to see the whole post.
I post a lot of updates on social media, but I’ve been slack about updating here. I hope you are all following me on Twitter or Facebook. If not, I invite you to do so to keep up to date in more real time.
I’m going to attempt to catch you up and point you in the direction of some upcoming events. For more information, visit the hot links or email me.
Is your 2013 to-do list done? The year is nearly over and the time to finish all our lists is upon us. I sometimes find myself wishing I had it all done, but I remind myself that the end of year is not relevant to 'real' deadlines and that if I got it all done, I'd just create the next to-do list anyway. Knowing that still doesn't stop me from trying to get it done, but at least I realize it is a game.
Kim's on a roll with articles this season. In addition to the November cover story of Kosmos Journal, a related article was the first article in the UK Journal for the Association for Management Education and Development, November 30.
Some excerpts are here and the full article is attached below.
"Kosmos is a journal for the New Civilization, integrating spirit with nature for the global common good. Kosmos Journal publishes the voices of leading edge, visionary thinkers and actors in building the emerging global culture."
I'm proud to say that they published my article in the November issue. Here is a link.
Kosmos does not accept advertising and is supported by subscriptions, so explore the rest of the issue and if you like what you see, subscribe!
I've managed to write several other pieces while I have been housesitting in San Clemente for a few weeks. Our first teams of Page Editors have started on their topics. I also managed to meet several SoCal lawyers and to visit California Western School of Law while I was in the neighborhood.
I'm off to Silicon Valley on Saturday morning for some important meetings about our future as a movement. I hope to have some good news to share soon.
Eileen Barker is hosting a gathering in San Rafael on Tuesday night, November 5. If you're in the area, let me know and I'll send details.
Then I am aiming the Tardis (my pet name for my blue Honda) toward the East. Lots of stops on the way: Palm Springs, Phoenix, Sedona, Albuquerque, Taos, Dallas, New Orleans. Are you on my route? The Tardis is going to live with my daughter for a few months while I go back to South Africa and Europe. I'm coming back to the US for a program at Omega Institute over July 4 weekend, if not before.
As always, sending love!
Many of you know that I visited the Hague Institute for Internationalisation of Law (HiiL), while I was in the Netherlands in July. I spent some time with the staff there, informing them of the many innovations of which I was aware. Little did I know, that it would come back to haunt me! There are 93 nominees and I know many of them. I can only vote for one in each category. I'd love to vote for them all. They're really impressive.
Are you a lawyer or law student interested in learning more about the most cutting-edge legal approaches? Do you want to be involved in a legal community that makes a difference? Then read on.
CuttingEdgeLaw.com is the hub of the Integrative Law movement. We're working on a new and improved community resource center for the movement and we need volunteers. The new information and resource center will be an upgrade from our Cutting Edge Law site, showcasing the growth and developments in the movement and educating our colleagues and the public about the movement. It is a big undertaking and we need the help of the community.
Connect in California!
If you're in California, want to see me, and haven't heard from me, please be in touch. I'm in the SF Bay area now and will be in southern California in a couple of weeks. There are several events being planned and it is a good opportunity to connect with your kindred spirit lawyers. I want to see you!
Mammoth Web Project
While I am house-sitting in San Clemente (while my hostess walks the Camino del Santiago), first I will be catching up on some writing assignments. Then, I will continue the mammoth project of redesigning the Cutting Edge Law website.
If you read yesterday's post about the ABA article, you read some of Sean Mason's story. You may recall that Sean was a featured speaker in our Integrative Legal Entrepreneur series last year. Below is the link to that interview, with Gretchen Duhaime as the interviewer.
Sean talks about how following his purpose and values took courage and led to a busier practice.
