Judge Campbell to lead peers, started Ohio's second mental health court
Excerpt from Oxford Press, February 14, 2009: Fairfield, Ohio: Municipal Court Judge Joyce A. Campbell has been elected by her peers to lead the statewide Association of Municipal and County Court Judges of Ohio.
The association includes all municipal and county courts with a mission to promote the development and enhancement of judicial professionalism, efficiency and responsiveness to improve the administration of justice and foster public confidence in the judicial system.
Campbell began the second mental health court in Ohio in 2001 and has been an advocate for other courts to adopt the principles of therapeutic jurisprudence.
In January, Campbell instituted a specialized docket for second and third offenders charged in the city of Fairfield with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
Additionally, she was selected to participate in the federal Advanced Science & Technology Adjudication Resource Center for Judges program, which provides ongoing scientific training to judges.
