RFP IAHL "Voices" and Honoring Steve Keeva
A Call for “Voices” for the Conference of the International Alliance of Holistic Lawyers
“Voices of the New Lawyer.
Finding and expressing your true voice in your practice.”
Chicago June 11-14, 2009
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE EXTREME EARLYBIRD SPECIAL IS SCHEDULED TO EXPIRE MARCH 7TH !!!
From the RFP:
We are extremely excited to bring high-level transformative legal professionals together for this year’s conference, the 17th annual. Successful holistic practitioners will explore how each has contributed to the transformation of the profession in the last ten years since the publication of Steven Keeva’s Transforming Practices (1999). We will all gather on Saturday night to honor Steve, bestowing the First Annual “Transforming Practices” Award to recognize his groundbreaking work to humanize the practice of law. There will be presentations intended to show how practicing holistically can be done with success AND satisfaction. We will also offer multiple workshops designed to allow for exploration and development of our own 'voice' in these new models of law practice.
If you’d like to check out last year’s conference, you can check out www.iahl.org and you can also catch some videos from it at the site of one of our Sponsors. www.CuttingEdgeLaw.com
While many presenters have already been established, if you are interested in contributing for the benefit of our 150-200 attendees and in honoring Steve Keeva, please make a proposal. You may consider the following themes:
-Transformation of Law Practice, the Ten Years Since "Transforming Practices"
-Humanizing the Legal Profession and Legal Education
-Integrated Law Practice
-Service—a Path Back to the Core
-Healing as a Service of the ‘Counselor’ at Law
-The Empathy and Listening Path
-Mindfulness in Law
-Integrating Spirituality and Law
-Attorney Well-Being and Wholeness
-Individual Stories of Personal and Professional Transformation
-Client Desires for Integrated Practice
-Transformation through Apology and Forgiveness
We will need a Title and a descriptive paragraph of what you wish to contribute. We believe that everyone has a voice and something to say that contributes to the growth of the movement. We may include you in a round table or include your written story of the transformation of you and your practice in an assemblage instead of as an individual presenter.
Our intention is to apply for Continuing Legal Education credit for the conference.
Thus, preference will be given to submissions that include:
· A Timed Agenda for your presentation
· Your credentials. If you have done presentations, please include those. If this program has been presented elsewhere, please specify and mention if there were CLE credits awarded for it.
· A detailed outline of your presentation
· A description of how the presentation will meet the objective to “increase each participant’s professional competence as an attorney.”
· Written materials to be made available to all participants at or before the presentation.
IAHL will provide a discounted conference registration fee for presenters. Unfortunately, we do not have the availability to offer any stipend and cannot cover travel expenses.
Submit your proposals or questions to BOTH carl Michael rossi cMr@cpchicago.net and Jennifer Foster jnfoster@mindspring.com. We’d like to receive them by March 23.
We hope you will join us as we raise our Voices in growth AND FUN! [Yes, there WILL be dancing!!]
