Minneapolis

Submitted by jkimwright on August 3, 2008 - 9:43pm

We're in Minneapolis now. I wish it were possible to post the interviews as quickly as we do them but the editing process takes ten times as long as the interviews themselves. With YouTube being limited to 10 minute (or less) segments, we just can't post the half hour to hour and a half of amazing conversations we have with many folks. And Michael is both videographer and editor so he can't be filming and editing at the same time.

Still in the hopper for editing from earlier interviews: several lawyers from the IAHL conference, Susan Daicoff, Larry Krieger, Daisy Floyd, Tim Floyd, Doug Ammar and the folks at the Georgia Justice Project, Nora Bushfield, Cindy Adcock, Jill Dahlquist,Maureen Holland, Linda Warren Seely, the Milwaukee gathering, David Lerman...I'm sure I'm missing some others. Each of these folks add their wisdom and perspective to this wonderful body of material. I can't wait to share them with all of you.

And on Friday, we were honored by an interview with Stu Webb, the creator of collaborative law, along with Ron Ousky, IACP President, folks at the Collaborative Alliance, and on Saturday, we talked with coach Dennis Coyne. On Monday, we're continuing our interviews here in Minneapolis.

Collaborative Alliance mediator, Shannon Helland, has been a most amazing hostess. She went from complete stranger to valued friend in a matter of days. Today, I went sailing with her, her husband, Steve, housemate and 1L Amanda, attorney Anne Towey (one of our interviewees) and the rest of the crew. I'd never sailed before and today was a race - we placed a respectable third place.

It was fun to meet Amanda and talk with her about the paradigm shift in the law. She was thinking of leaving the law, not wanting to destroy someone on behalf of someone else, and now she has new excitement and possibility. This site is for the Amandas - practicing lawyers and law students, judges, law professors, and other legal professionals - who want to make such a difference.
