Client Generation the Holistic Way by Marjorie Carter
For the first time recently, a client told me she had selected me solely because she knew I was a holistic lawyer. I represent her in a Collaborative divorce case, and her husband asked her how she found me. She said, “I googled holistic family lawyer in St. Louis and her name came up.” That was so cool because I took it as an indication that I’m on the right path.
Not all clients are going to choose holistic lawyers because of a spiritual or emotional reason, though. A lot more people are taking the kitchen table approach, sitting down and working out a settlement. I’m noticing that my mediation practice is really picking up. It’s not necessarily because people are more compatible or less inclined to fight; in the present economy, they just can’t afford to give their lawyers all their money. They couldn’t really afford to do that, even in a good economy, but at least now, they’re realizing that.
How about you? Are you noticing any new patterns in how and why clients are selecting you? Has the bad economy had an effect on the way your clients are resolving their cases?
