But drug courts work, she said. A study by the National Association of Drug Court Professionals concluded that 75 percent of drug court graduates remain arrest-free at least two years after leaving the program.

Nevada’s drug courts and other specialty courts continue to enjoy success, he said. In the last fiscal year, specialty courts across the state saw more than 2,200 participants and had 1,235 graduates, he said.
Thanks to the court, 76 babies who were born to drug court participants were born drug-free, he said, adding that they “now have a chance to grow up without the limitations imposed on them prenatally by drug addicted mothers.”
