The Center for Court Innovation, a project of the Fund for the City of New York, is a unique public-private partnership that promotes new thinking about how courts and criminal justice agencies can aid victims, change the behavior of offenders, and strengthen communities. The Center creates demonstration projects that test new approaches to problems that have resisted conventional solutions. The Center’s problem-solving courts include the nation’s first community court (Midtown Community Court), as well as drug courts, domestic violence courts, youth courts, mental health courts, and others. Nationally and internationally, the Center performs original research on topics of justice reform and provides consulting services to criminal justice innovators. The Parent court is a new project designed to help non-custodial parents increase their understanding of their role in their child’s life and improve compliance with child support payments.
The Center is seeking a Resource Coordinator who will be working in the New York City Family Court. Reporting to the Director of Domestic Violence and Family Court Programs, the Resource Coordinator is responsible for working with respondent parents and tracking their compliance with court orders.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Assessing, screening and referring parents to work, fathering and other programs
* Collaborating with Judges, court personnel, support collection officers, and other to develop a problem-solving approach to support collection
* Tracking respondent compliance with child support payments and program participation
Qualifications:
M.S.W required. Prior experience with fatherhood and/or employment programs preferred. A background in child support, family, domestic violence issues also welcome. This position requires a creative, aggressive self-starter who can work well with others and get things done in a high-paced environment.
