Collaborative Practice
Resonance
When you start from the premise that “All is One,” outer situations connect to inner realities. Having done therapeutic work to heal relationships with my family of origin, I married a man with traits similar to my mother. Our relationship brought out behaviors in me similar to behaviors of my father. My personality was similar to my husband’s father personality which “fit” his behavior resonating with that of his mother. We each had (and have) inner female and inner male energies to be integrated.

Spiritual teachings applied to the practice of law can lead to a more joy-filled and manageable Life. This article takes a fresh look at “opposites.” By altering our perspective of things that seem to be “at odds” we can harmonize them and achieve more satisfactory outcomes for ourselves and our clients.
How I got introduced to Collaborative Practice…
In 2000, I met Stu Webb at a meeting of the International Alliance of Holistic Lawyers (IAHL). There, I found out that he and a small group of lawyers in Minneapolis came up with a brilliant idea. In the divorce context, rather than fight, get the clients and the other lawyer to focus on settlement. Get that agreement up front and tell the clients if they don’t settle, they need to get different lawyers to litigate the case.
As soon as I heard about it, it made sense to me. My marriage at the time was a bit shaky so I asked Stu for his phone number.
